Hetty Johnston knows how important and valuable her time is – she is the founder and Executive Director of child protection organisation Bravehearts.

“Our time is so valuable, and is often spent doing mundane tasks that slow us down and get in the way of us being the best parents, business people, or partners, that we can be!”

In this fast paced world, time is money – and nothing is more important than spending time on the things that matter most. Hetty Johnston, super business woman extraordinaire shows us how her life would look on a balance sheet!

Have you recently found yourself completing a task that you really didn’t have the time for, or wanted to be doing something else entirely?  What if you put a price on that time?

So, lets say one hour of your time is $80 … Here are some examples of what you could be using your valuable time for instead.

TASK TIME COST MISSED OPPORTUNITY
Sourcing caterers and suppliers for a party 3 hours $240 Spending quality time with family and friends – even Skype catch ups with far away relatives.
Cleaning the oven 2 hours $160 Getting your hair done, or a pedicure – investing in yourself is important!
Getting your car serviced 6 hours $480 Putting some time into tasks at work which are often neglected, such as business development plans.
Picking up the dry cleaning 1 hour $80 Going for a walk or taking an exercise class.
Organising your house to be repainted 8 hours $640 Having a staff development and team bonding day at your office.

TOTAL: 20 hours = $1600

Is anyone thinking, “This looks like my To Do List for this week”?  Trying to fit these tasks around your career and family responsibilities can be extremely draining.

Imagine if you had to charge these tasks, and you received payment for them, you probably wouldn’t mind doing them, but the reality is that you don’t! Can the above tasks, and others similar, be left to somebody else to handle, while you spend your time on more important tasks, and spending time with your family?

Using a personal concierge or organiser is smart, Hetty says. “This is me being financially and personally savvy”
