We are constantly looking for more choice, but do we really need it?

Does more choice actually create more confusion than clarity?

There is a frequently told story of a jam maker who wanted to find out which jam his customers would like best.  So he set up a stand at his local supermarket and beautifully laid out all 24 flavours for customers to sample.  Whilst there was a huge choice, hardly anyone approached his colourful stand to taste his product.

The next week he returned to the same supermarket with just 6 choices.  Almost 30% more customers stopped by to taste his produce.  With less choice the customer found the experience less overwhelming.

I’m sure you’ve been left standing in front of the sauce section at the supermarket and thought the same thing – I just want plain old tomato!

Sadly we can suffer from paralysis by analysis (to use another cliche) when surrounded by too many choices. The time required to analyse each option is just too much; which one will be the best, what if I make a mistake?

One of the benefits of being a client of The Concierge Collective is that we cut through the clutter of choice and connect you to the right solution; we’ve already done the hard work and so that you don’t have to.
