I have often drawn a parallel between a Personal Trainer and a Personal Concierge.

Both are unique industries that have become  a mainstream service.  No one thinks twice if you say “I’m going to see my trainer after work”.  Yet if you had uttered those same words 15 years ago, your friend would have through you were going to night school, not for a run!

The Australian Bureau of Statistics says that businesses that provide personal services will experience strong growth in the next 10 to 15 years as people become more and more time poor.

Perhaps that is why you started with your Personal Trainer?  You need to get high intensity training done in a short space of time, at a set time and when you had to go because you had already paid for the service – and of course you get the results because your Trainer is responsible for pushing you along.

The same could be said for hiring a Personal Concierge.  You get a lot of tasks done in a short amount of time because they have the connections and expertise, you will get it done in the time you have set and you will see the results because your Concierge is responsible for delivering the service.

This is not where the similarities end – the hourly rate for a Personal Trainer and a Personal Concierge are about the same, they both provide health benefits (one physical and one mental), both ensure that the job gets done and you feel really good afterwards!

What would you choose,  a Personal Trainer? a Personal Concierge? or both?
