My Top Tips for Having a Successful Day

  1. Make your bed before you do anything in the morning
  2. Exercise
  3. Eat Well
  4. Say hello to someone new
  5. Daily Gratitudes

Making your bed each morning may seem like the least of our worries, however I say it is the best way to start the day.  It is this one simple task that will set your mindset for the rest of the day, as you have already completed your first task, now you’re ready to tackle the next.

Once that’s done, I love the opportunity to work out before the world wakes up.  Whether it be a 5km run or Pilates, it energizes me and wakes me up by turning off melatonin (the sleep hormone) and turning on serotonin (the feel good hormone).  Many people also believe that exercise before breakfast tends to burn more body fat – hey I’ll take that.

Which leads to the BEST meal of the day, breakfast! So fuel your body with something delicious and if time is an issue, make time on the weekend to food prep, which can be as easy as preparing and freezing fruit smoothie pouches or baking a Quiche. Eat Up as this also sets the pattern for your eating habits for the day.

I always take the opportunity to say hello to someone new everyday, it may be on my morning run or as I am grabbing a coffee, but it is a wonderful feeling connecting with another person and just think how you may have just made that person’s day better by sharing a smile with them.

We must not forget that sometimes things happen to disrupt our day, but when you start with a great attitude it is much easier to look past the bumps, this is where nightly gratitudes are beneficial. For me I simply write down 3 things I am grateful for that happened to me that day.  It is also a good way to clear your head ready for the next day’s adventure.
