Amy Smith | Personal Concierge
When I introduce myself as a Personal Concierge I get a couple of standard responses; “Oh, like a hotel?” And “Wow! What is that?”. Nobody, ever, isn’t at least a little bit curious. Usually people want to know what weird and amazing things we do, and how much we charge.
I’m not going to bring money into this post, but I can talk about the cool things I do everyday.
Some recent client requests:
- Arrange quotes for regular garden maintenance for three different clients
- Attend an onsite meeting with a builder who is in the quoting stage of a large renovation and continue to liaise with him on behalf of my client
- Arrange a service for a cuckoo clock that needed urgent re-synchronizing; it was chiming every 15 minutes, day and night!
- Purchase a new mattress and bedding for a client’s teenage daughter
- Manage house keys for almost all of our clients.
- Wine fridge research for a birthday gift
- Send reminders to a client so birthdays, mother’s day etc aren’t forgotten
- Take a car to be serviced and drop it back to my clients parking space at work
- File a 10 years of receipts that have been kept shoe box style
- Find the best price for furniture hire for a backyard party
- Find a henna tattoo artist for a party
- Purchase catering, champagne and vintage mixed tea cups for a high tea
- Arrange a cleaner to spring clean a client’s home
- Liaise with the stakeholders involved in an insurance claim to lay artificial turf
- Book flights and accommodation for a client who regularly travels for business
- Property searching for an interstate client, liaisng with real estate agents and preview properties
- Check mail and water pot plants for a frequently travelling client
Some really cool requests:
- Be a ‘body’ for massage and manicure training days at an amazing day spa #poorme
- Spend the day at a luxurious 5 star condo with views to match at the Gold Coast to supervise and coordinate trades
- Find some fabulous experiences for a client travelling to NY and LA. Last minute Jimmy Fallon tickets anyone? Those are sold out 2 years in advance we we got them in 3 days.
The best part of being a Concierge is when my clients and I reach that level of trust when a task that was once a headache becomes “a blip” on their radar.
That’s how we give our clients time to live and that’s why I love my job.
